Okay, I am a total computer dummy and I need serious help! I was a victim of the dreaded Vista SP1 and my laptop crashed. I reconfigured my harddrive but added windows xp pro instead of using the vista recovery disks. Now there are so many things on my computer that are not working. First of all, I cannot connect to the internet...my wireless modem isn't working at all...what should I do? Once I get this fixed then I can just reinstall the correct drivers for everything else from hp, right?

Just download the wifi driver from HP.com for your model from another computer connected to the internet and then copy that file to your dv9000 and then install it.
