Hi, first of all i wanted to tell that i am new on this website, so hey everybody!

my problem is that i got a new laptop about 2 days ago and it had windows vista home prenium installed in. i want to put win xp pro english and i m wondering how to do it. i m no expert since this will be my first modification, and the problem is that in the manufacturer's site there is only support for vista. no drivers for xp. my friend told me that i should leave it and not try to change the os. but i ve spend 1200 euros on that machine and its not even playing games half a year old. so the whole laptop is more or less a waste of money. can you please help on what to do? or at least give me a starter to do something. i ve searched around, without finding anything, and also i cant find the chipset(motherboard) of the pc, either on the manual or the net, so i can find the drivers for xp from an other/older model which uses the same. after that i know i have to find drivers for the graphic card and speakers. i dont mind if the microphone or the card reader or the bluetooth device are not working, i only want the basic stuff to play some pc games. so any suggestions, please?

take a look at this thread here...

That should guide you on the basic steps to install XP on your system. You might have to modify it a bit for your system but thats the general process to install XP on any new HP Intel based notebook.
