i just got a hp pavilion g6-1257sa a few days ago. when i started playing games on it (e.g. minecraft) it would start making a whistling noise, im guessing its cause its working hard, but it shouldn't happen! This is my first hp laptop so this isn't exactly making me like hp, I usually get acers and they are quite good. Is anyone else getting this noise? I found a topic somewhere talking about it, but I can't find that one anymore. I'm considering returning it & getting a new laptop, since I read other people are having the problem too, so getting a new one won't fix it. What do you think I should do, and is anyone else having this problem? it only happens when gaming. Thanks anyone that replies :)

That sound is the fan noise, Hp usually uses a noisy fan that makes a whirring audible sound when it starts ramping up in speed. With an old Hp of mine I had the same fan issue, kept the computer cool enough but was extremely loud in the process

well i think im gonna return it, its really hard for me to put up with (i like everything to work perfectly).
edit: well i'd rather my computer get a bit hot then hear a really annoying noise. i know the hotter it gets the less cpu life, but the more the fan is on, the less the fan life, and the fan on this laptop seems to be always on.

You're not alone I have had my G6 for a day now and noticed the whirring sound immediately as I have many other laptops to compare with (techie). Think I might just put up with it though, got this for a great price for what it is. If I am going to game with it I will stick in some head phones so wont be able to here it screaming away

i am going to return it very soon. if u dont want to do that then u should update the BIOS, that makes it a bit quieter.
