Anybody have any helpful info on hdd failures on this notebook? It won't boot into windows & it displays a message as follows: operating system not found. I have tried using a hdd utility program to determine the cause of the problem. I get a message stating that there was a device error reading drive 1 absolute sector 0 count 1. Thanks in advance for any helpful info.

It looks like you HDD is dead. If it's having problems reading the drive, using a diag utility, you need a new drive. The OS Not Found error is usually caused when the system can't find the OS or can't read the drive. I'd go and get a new HDD (assuming this is out of warranty).
