    Hello fellows,
My name is Mauro Baudino. This is my first post.
I am an enthusiast owner of a customized pavilion zd7000 with the following features:
    Processor: Pentium 4 w/ HT 3.2 GHz
    Chipset: IntelĀ® 865 chipset family
    Ram: 1Gb
    NVIDIA GeForce FX Go5600 128Mb

A few months after my purchase, I have seen that it is possible to order the Pavilion zd7000 with a Pentium 4 Extreme Edition 3.2 GHz.
I would like to know how I can upgrade my laptop to the Pentium 4 Extreme Edition.
Is it something complicate to do?

All kind of information is really appreciated.

Thank you so much for your help.

    My bests to all.

    Ciao
    Mauro

That would be a pretty neat upgrade that I would be interested in too, but I think that would involve replacing the mainboard with one that supports the extreme edition processor.

    Anyone have any ideas?

    Araw83,
As far as I know there are no differences between the motherboard mounted in the zd7000. I have bought mine using the customizing web page of hp. When I have chosen mine the Pentium 4 HT 3.2 was the best processor. After a few months also the extreme edition was available. The difference was only the processor price.
I have already contacted hp. It states that it is possible.
The chipset is compatible with the extreme edition.
Any suggestion about this issue is really appreciated.
    Ciao
    Mauro

    Hello guys,
I have solved the issue with hp customer service. Please read the following emails:

    My email:
"Few months ago I have bought my hp pavilion zd7000 using the customizing
    page of hp web.
    My configuration was:
    Processor: Pentium 4 w/ HT 3.2 GHz
    Memory: 1 Gb

The chipset is the following one: INTEL 865 chipset family.

In term of motherboard and chipset there is some difference with respect
to the pavilion zd7000 with Pentium 4 extreme edition 3.2 GHz.

Is the processor the only difference between my configuration and the
pavilion zd7000 with extreme edition processor?

Thank you so much for your reply
    Best regards
    Mauro Baudino"

So really, we could just buy the processor and put it in? Think it would be that much of a performance boost? Are you thinking about actually doing this. If so, where are you buying your processor?
