My 9260nr will turn on, but the screen remains black. Soomeone diagnosed the problem as needing a new screen. I replace the screen and still have the same problem. I replaced the video cable.....same problem. The backlight comes on, so I assume that the inverter is working. I plugged an old external monitor into the pc and could access the internet. Any suggestions before I grab a gun? I was also dismayed to find grafitti written on the aluminum shield between the screen and lid....we sent the laptop in to have the left hinge replaced. Apparently the tech had nothing else to do with his time....looks like a bathroom wall. Anybody else ever heard of such a thing?

No doubt has the well known nvidia graphics chip failure, well documented on here. I had a dv9774ca that did that, could see backlight, dead video though. I replaced motherboard at $100 off ebay, did it myself.
