Is it possible to upgrade the wifi card in this laptop? It came with the IntelĀ® PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection (Tri-mode 802.11a/b/g)

I was hoping to replace my router and this card to a draft-N spec. HP says you can't upgrade the WIFI card.

My IT guys at work say it makes no sense to upgrade since I am limited by my ISP's connection speed (road runner hi speed residential 3-5 Mbps).

    Any thoughts?

HP locks out "unapproved" internal WiFi cards in the BIOS, allegedly because the FCC made them do it even though no other notebooks makers do. Finding an approved card can be tricky.

Your IT guys are also correct, unless you have other machines on your LAN you're doing heavy network transfers with.
