hi everyone,
my hp pavillion tx1000 is ajust about 0ne year old. last night hte lcd just went dead while the computer is on power. the computer can still be turn on but the lcd is permanently black. what seems to be the problem? is the lcd not working anymore? thanks for the help. marry christmas happy new year!

Hi,
If you have an external monitor, try using that so we know its not your graphics card.
Im guessing its the cable or the panel itself. Im not very familiar with tablet digitized screens but check if you can see anything at all as the backlight could be dead. -
I'm very sad. According to the HP technicians, it's the motherboard that is defective! The laptop is only 14 months old. The HP people told me that replacing it would cost about $400!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

According to the HP technicians, the defective part is SPS-BD, SYS WLAN which cost about $250.
Maybe it is better to buy a new one. Maybe I should go back to DELL again. -

It's probably the usual defective NVIDIA chipset, which HP covers with an enhanced warranty program for some of their models but for some reason not the tx1000:

If you didn't get the BIOS update that runs the fan 24x7 in time your NVIDIA northbridge chip failed from heat stress. -
