I want to claim my hp rebate but the following requirements seem to be missing and I have no idea what they are (I ordered online):

    1. Copies of dated receipt or transaction record (shall I print online transaction file?)

    2. Copies of packing slip (what exact is this packing slip?) It comes with a bunch of ads and manuals but I didn't see any packing slip.

    1) Yes. Just make sure it includes the order number, so HP can backtrack the purchase. Better yet, and just to be sure, call HP Billing and ask them what HP will accept for proof. Make sure you tell them that you purchased it online.

    2) All HP products have a packing slip. It lists what was shipped by part number, but does not include pricing info or total. Sometimes it's inside the box, and sometimes it's part of the shipping label. By that I mean, it's folded and enclosed in a plastic pouch on the outside box with your address showing(Duh!) Hope you didn't throw out the box, though you may be able to get a copy from someone at HP.

Also, and most peeps don't realize this, HP has a 30 day price assurance guarantee where if they drop the cost of an item you purchased they will refund you the difference. Just be sure to check daily to see what changes. This also applies to CTO's. They add up the cost of the parts you selected and if it's less than what you spent, you're a winner.

I regret a little bit because the price seems to be the lowest when vista was first released.

Thank you for your advice, I guess I will check daily.

I wouldn't worry. HP is back to it's 1 year no payments, no interest deal, which usually foreshadows a drop in price. When the ranks of new hardware purchasers gets a little thinner, you'll be a few dollars richer.

HP is good about their rebates, especially if you purchased, as you said you had, online. Got mine in 2 weeks. They could have taken 8. Tech support...that's another story.
