I have to return my new v6000 to hp because the lcd backlight is not working, but Im extremely scared because I know hp doesnt take care of the products you send it for service, I have heard so many bad experiences, including my previous one, when I sent the notebook with a heating problem and it came back with the same heating problem, and the touchpad and quickplay buttons completly unusable..I was just thinking about taking it somewhere locally, but i know thats gonna void the warranty, I have heard hp has service centers on many stores like best buy but I dont know if this is certain or not..I think im going to have to stick with hp service and pray that my laptop doesnt get back worse than before...what do you guys think I shoukd do?

Take pictures of the condition it is in before sending it back so you have proof it's in good shape physically now. If you get it back with blemishes, you have evidence that's not how it was sent. You can then share that evidence with them and say you'll be sending it to your legal advisor as well.

I doubt it would get to that, but always a good idea, and then just go with the HP repair service knowing you have evidence of the initial condition it was sent it.

read your private message, interesting. but yeah take pics of your notebook, and send in those pics with your notebook with a note at the back about how you have evidence that your notebook was in good physical condition (except what you are sending it in for)

but what was the problem exactly with your v3000z? you never said if it was the heat itself or if the heat caused some kind of damage.
