Question:
I work most of the year in Canada If I buy a HP laptop and get the warranty would it be honored in Canada? Inregard to tech support and repairs I mean.
Thanks

If you live in the US and buy a US notebook, their warranty applies worldwide, but if you live in the US and buy a Canadian notebook, there could be issue with warranty. I think it's because you need a mailing address from the country of origin of the notebook. Same goes if you live in Canada. As long as the notebook is purchased in the country you live in (perm/temp), you should be able to get the worldwide warranty. When I say temp, I don't mean just in the country for a week.

HPs warranty states:
"This document includes Limited Warranty information for computer products purchased in the United States and Canada."
And if I look at the warranty statement (for example) of the dv1040us (us model) an dthe dv1040ca (canadian model) they are identical and both include the "United States and Canada" statement. (see links below)
I could be wrong, but I read that to mean they consider the US and Canada to be the same "locale".
dv1040us:

dv1040ca:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&lang=en&cc=us&product=434902&dlc=en&docname=c00019915
Please note, this is only the standard 1-year limited warranty - I haven't found any specifics on the extended warranties.
