    I was doing some cleaning, and I noticed this process for the first time. A Google search reveals no information - just more people asking the same question.

    Anyone know what hpqtoaster.exe does?

    No, not really. I've read the theories that it is related to CD/DVD burning, but I don't think so myself. This is the most plausible explanation I've found. It seems to be on post April 2006 HP PCs, which tends to lend credence to that possibility as the hardware vendors would have been gearing up for Core Duo and Core 2 Duo and Vista about then.

    yup after i installed hp wireless assistant and rebooted, hpqtoaster.exe was visible in my task manager

    So more than likely, hpqtoaster.exe is related to HP wireless assistant. Is wireless assistant even useful (if you have no Bluetooth)?

    That is not the way I interpreted it.

    I read it that hpqtoaster.exe was essentially the bootstrap, or common entry point, into all the HP add-on functions.
