I've done some Googling and visited some forums that said hybrid crossfire basically does not support DX9 games. Is it still the case or have driver updates fixed this issue? Would love to play Mass Effect 3 with smooth framerates...

It doesn't. And even if it did, it wouldn't be smooth due to the micro stuttering.

the new apu's from amd do support hybrid crossfire in dx9 mode, but you have to make sure you get the correct one.

Just wondering, have you personally tested crossfire mode against solo gpu and noticed significant framerate boost in dx9 game?

ive only really played with dx11 games(BF3, max payne 3, crysis 2) and valve games(Left for dead, portal2, payday heist) so far...

certain games benefit alot like max payne 3 ive noticed a 10-15 fps boost

BF3 is weird...it runs really smooth on just the 7660g, however in crossfire it does get a higher fps but slows down in certain cases, definitely needs a driver update i think, or this is micro stutter.

    i get P2243 in 3dmark11

this laptop is still new to me so i haven't really tested/played with it alot yet but everything ive played on it so far has run pretty smooth.

but yah dx9 i havent really spent time to actually test the difference

dx9 on high: 24 fps avg (300 sec. run)
dx11 on high: 42 fps avg (300 sec. run)

hmm so maybe not for crysis2

yeah, it doesn't look like xfire for dx9 works yet.

amd did mention it was supposed to work in one of the driver release notes.
