Question 1: Yes, you most certainly can use your fingerprint reader in XP. You need to know the model of fingerprint reader and just google for an XP driver. There is also a large batch of programs for integrating fingerprint reading into XP (for logon). If your original software package came with Verisoft Access Manager (and you have a way of retrieving it) then use it! Its great software and fully compatible with XP.

So your two partitions (recovery and operating system?) got merged? Please tell me your burned your recover media before installing XP. If not (And by uncollated I'm assuming you mean they're unreadable) its time to call HP for recovery disks for a start.

well i delete the hp recovry cuz i dont need it waste of space ';p
i use xp anyway and i hate vista
and i had C and D each one 125GB
and it deleted and become 1 HD 250GB undefined ;p
so i run all setups of xp again
and my Finger Read model is like on all DV6xxx Serious
so maybe can u give me link for the finger software cuz i can not find one that working on logon with Xp ;p -
The fingerprint reader would be an AES2501A. I use Verisoft so I don't have a specific link to other software sorry. As a dv6xxx owner who hates XP have you checked out this thread http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=165319. Someone else may be able to offer an alternative
