i have problem switching users! please help..i'm DESPERATE(HP PAVILION dv2710us)

OK SO I HAVE A HP PAVILION dv2710us FOR ABOUT 3 MONTHS NOW AND SOMETHING HAS GONE WRONG ALL OF A SUDDEN... EVERY TIME I PUT SWITCH USER IT GOES BLACK... WHEN I TRY MOVING THE MOUSE NOTHING HAPPENS AND I HAVE TO TURN IN OFF SO I CAN USE IT AGAIN BECAUSE IF I DON'T THAN IT WILL JUST STAY LIKE THAT... WHEN I'M IN MY USER AND PUT "LOCK" IT WORKS PERFECTLY BECAUSE I CAN LOG IN BACK TO MY USER BUT THAT DOESN'T HAPPEN WHEN I PUT "SWITCH USER" ... SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME! I'M DESPERATE!!

 

could be a graphic card driver issue .. have u updated the drivers recently

some of the new drivers have issues with switching users and coming back from sleep

 

no i haven't updated anything.. all of a sudden it started doing this! can someone please help me.

every time i put switch user in my hp dv2710us it goes all black. when i try moving the mouse nothing happens, but when i put lock it works perfectly. when i want to switch user i have to turn off because every time i put it to switch user it goes black and if i don't turn it off it will just stay like that. can someone please help me?

have you installed new software recently?
i know you already stated that you didnt update the drivers... but that sounds like a graphics driver problem....

did you disable services recently?

you are using Vista I assume

 

uhmm i don't remember disabling anything how do i know if i disabled anything? and yes i am using vista.. please help

 

This is almost always due to incompatible driver....

How long ago did you install/update your graphics driver (or did you ever in the lifetime of the laptop update driver)?

and when was the last time Switch User worked?

 

i don't think i updated anything at all... my switch user stopped working about 2 weeks ago or so.. i think it stopped working when i started using lock

 

i have a 2715. Update the bios. I nkow there was an issue with previous bios.

Run Windows Update, get all the fixes. Make sure you have Vista SP1.

ok so i just download the 2 updates and that's it? and how do i know if i have vista sp1? sorry if my quesstions are kinda stupid. i'm new to this so yeah sorry =]

 

click start, rightclick computer, click properties.

If you have Vista SP1, it will say it

 

oh ok.. i don't have SP1 i have vista home premium is that ok to use with the updates?
