Yes, return it and wait for the 3rd gen soon to be released. Might cost a little more, but worth it IMO.

    Yes, you do.

This is key. Since you need one fast, stay with what you got.

Moreover, the next gen is a redesign. Wait until its next iteration which will have most of the kinks worked out and would more likely be worth the upgrade from what you have now.

The third-generation Envy 14, the rumored Envy 14 Spectre, probably won't be around for several months if it ever becomes a reality. The third-generation Envy 15 is supposed to come out in a few days, but the best-case-scenario is probably that it's released on time (the 7th) and the first buyers get it in hand just before Christmas, and there's no guarantee of that.

Of course, the new Envy 15 will be bigger, heavier, and probably more expensive than your Envy 14, so those are all downsides as well.

If you need a computer now, keep this one. If you don't like it but need something now, return it and buy something else in-store. If you can wait a while and want to see what pops up in the near future go for it, but it all really comes down to whether or not you're satisfied with what you have, and whether or not you see a worthy alternative.
