i would suggest the DV. go with the least RAM if u can and buy the same RAM at cheaper price from newegg. i suppose autocad uses a lot of graphic RAM.. u "might" want to compare 256MB vs 512MB performance on the 7600.

Looks like u r planning to buy not to by the ready-to-ship version.. is it?

Hard to say. The larger screen is good for AutoCAD, as is the extra memory. Is there any way to configure a higher resolution screen in the DV? How large are each of the laptops? If the DV is smaller (like, a 15.4" instead of a 17"), I'd go with the DV and then just get a larger monitor and external keyboard for use when you're at home.

there is a fairly big difference in quality between the nx and the dv. the nx = business while dv = consumer. business notebooks are built to be more durable, using magnesium alloy in the chassis, hd shocks, spill proof keyboard....however, it is less of a multimedia notebook. the screen on the nx is matte, which is best for office environments, but won't be as good as glossy for movies. also, the nx speakers probably won't be as good as on the dv.

NX and dv is the same size.
everything is the same, only the graf card is different.
so the Dv is little better?
