my powersupply is very hot and when i say hot its nearly o to the point of burning me  alson on nhc(notbooke hardware control) it says my wearlevel on my battery is 31%
does your powersupply usually get this hot?
ive already asked about the wear level in the hardware forum and they said its normal but it sounds like 7 or 8 % is normal and 31% is WAY up there

How long have you had your dv1000?

The powersupply in normally very hot. Mine almost burns me but that is just how it is. Your laptop is not defective.

I have a dv1000 with a Dothan 1.73, and do not have any part burning! the power supply runs hot but not that much. it is really an elegant, nice machine. I think you better call the service center.

i think mine runs really hot for a V2000z, i mean really hot to the point where i can only hold it for about 5 secs before putting it down.

just make sure you dont put anything on top of it to create too much heat.

Don't worry about the AC adaptor, it is normally hot and especially so when charging the battery and running the laptop at the same time.
About the wear level. HP has had this problem for some time now. Most if not all programs fail to detect properly the batteries HP supplies. The programs report an enormous default capacity and a small level of maximum charge. Actually the charge level is correct but the total capacity of the batteries is grossly overstated. This is the reason those programs calculate the wear level incorrectly. Unfortunately, we have not found a way to properly detect the wear level of HP batteries. The only measure is the real battery life you can get.

I hope it works. I think it didn't work for me the last time I tried.
So, what is the correct wear level?

    Hey, great find.

I just installed it on my v2000z and works fine. It reads my battery wear level at 5%, although when i run it, it says 10% and then goes to 5% after a few seconds. I guess the correct value is somewhere in between.

Weird, though, as mobilemeter reads it at 39%. I didn't expect such a big difference between the two programs. Well, since HP claims this is the correct level, we'll have to believe them.

Anyway, nice from HP to provide us with this little piece of software. Too bad it doesn't work on every laptop. Guess i'm lucky. :D

    Cheers, mate.
