.. actually going out and buying windows vista home premium because i dont have a credit card to pay for the shipping and dont know anybody that will be willing to do this.

I have a dv6152eu so was wondering whether the vista that i buy will be different from the ones hp are sending out?
Will encounter any problems in buying a home premium dvd? also will it be possible to download all the vista drivers for the dv6152eu?

sorry if this has been answered but i want to make sure before making any concrete decisions. :)

I bought Vista Ultimate 64bit for my DV9000t. Vista found everthing in the machine other than the card reader when I installed it. I mean sure it might be generic M$ drivers but at least it found it to update it all later or one piece at a time. Either way So far so good on Vista. ITs not a Bad OS as far as I can tell. Specially after you get around in it a bit and customize it to your liking.

ZoopZoop -- the discs that HP will be sending out will be the standard 32-bit Home Premium disc alond with a special disc that HP wants you to run to start the upgrade process. They will be making that disc available for download soon if you want to upgrade the way HP wants you to. HP is way behind on getting the drivers together, though. You can look on this forum for links to most of the drivers you'll need, but it may be worth waiting for HP to catch up and post the upgrade utility and drivers.

Also, I wouldn't pay if you're entitled to get it for free. If a credit card (for S&H charge) is the only thing stopping you from getting your Express Upgrade copy, I would just go out and buy a Visa gift card. Basically they're just credit cards but you pay $20 or $50 or whatever, and they put that amount on a Visa card for you so you can use it at places that require credit cards -- including online. I know many banks offer these cards to give as gifts, etc.
