Is the battery life substantial? Are we talking like 20-30 minutes here or like a whole hour?
I've been looking for solid benchmarks but having a difficult time finding solid answers here....

Depends which CPUs you're comparing. The i5-520M or 540M vs. 620M or 720QM... Also, depending on the chipset used, since PM55 doesn't support switchable graphics. If they use the new HM/QM55/57 chipset that does support switchable graphics, I'd imagine battery life would increase by at least 1 hour over a similar configuration but with discrete graphics. The 520M and 540M are very close in performance with the 620M and even the 720QM in most applications, yet consume less power and at a lesser cost. Comparing identical machines (w/o switchable graphics), I'd say the i5s would add around 10-20 min over the dual core i7 and 20-30 min over the quad core i7.
