Since I missed the Radiance display the first time around, I'm set on getting it this time around... even though BCB's long gone :(

I've configured a straight forward build and don't want to sacrifice battery life so I've decided to stick to the i5 but I need some suggestions b/w the processors...

I don't want to spend too much on the E14, especially when there might be a refresh around the corner...

Just wanted a quick opinion about the i5-580 and 560... is there any performance difference b/w the two (other than the .13 turbo speed)?

also...how does the i5-480 stack up?

    Current build in my cart:

From what I see in the benchmarks, there is not much difference between the 580 and the 560. So it may not be worth spending the extra $50.

On the other hand the i7-720 is about 50% faster than the 580/560 although at the expense of battery life.

It would be wiser to spend $20 on getting 4 Gigs in one Dimm so you have one spare Dimm to upgrade later. You can buy an extra 4 Gb for like $40 (HP charges $150 for the 8 gigs upgrade).

    ^ thanks for the suggestions...
I went with the i5-580 in the end to use the new $500 off $1399 coupon [NBK4267893], Eta Feb. 1... now the waiting game begins.

ahah, I did the same just to qualify for the coupon :D 580+ radiance + 4gb in 1 dimm + 1 spare 8 cell battery .

This way I can upgrade the ram to 8gb myself for a mere $40 and buy a solid state drive next year when they go down a bit in price.
