    Hi all,

I'm using the latest driver for the fingerprint reader from HP and when I close the lid on my laptop, the fingerprint reader does not work when I open the lid. I end up having to type my password in manually. There are also some other cases occassionally when the fingerprint scanner will not resume properly out of sleep.

The funny thing is that the fingerprint reader always seems to work once I login. So the problem seems to be limited to the windows login.

It seems like this is a problem that happens with everyone that has this model of fingerprint reader from validty, because it is a driver issue. Does anyone else have this problem? Have other people found a workaround or solution? Thanks,

    M

Yes... but only ocassionally. Do you use Avast! Anti-virus?

I had the same problem with my laptop, which was fixed by installing the latest driver, whose release notes said that it fixes this particular issue.

No, I don't use avast virus scanner. It's odd because the release notes for the latest driver clearly says it fixes issues with sleep, but I'm guessing it doesn't fix all the situations. For instance, when it sleeps from idling out, it's different than when it sleeps because the lid is closed. My laptop sometimes works out of sleep and other times it doesn't

The reason I ask about avast is that upon waking, it seems to contact the avast (and/or skype? maybe ) server FIRST ... and if it doesn't do it in a timely manner, the fingerprint function seems to be delayed. I find if I let it sit long enough, it usually does work. Skype may make MORE sense, because it is definitely doing an automatic login. Just a thought.
