brianstretch Notebook Virtuoso
That looks like the right card. It's critical to get a HP card because HP locks out non-HP miniPCI WiFi cards in the BIOS [}
].
If you know how to get to the internal memory slot, the miniPCI slot is above that under the keyboard. There should be two antenna wires that you'll connect to the WiFi card. See the "Ram - first slot" link here. If you can't find those antenna wires, you won't be able to use the WiFi card.Last edited by a moderator: May 5, 2015 -
well I found the part on hp but it sells for 142$. I am just wondring if it is the smae part that is being sold on ebay, here is the link
http://h20141.www2.hp.com/hpparts/search_Product.asp?mscssid=27FBGV87VMHX8ME8WP4T7QU4RP2N13WB&SearchCriteria=DP217AV&Smethod=1&sRefAsp=Search_Multi_Product
go there and then on the drop down menu labeled keyword search choose WLAN , and you will see the wifi card there being sold at 142$ -
anyone know if its the same card (stretch, venom ) ?

Xodus6,
This is not the same part as listed on eBay. The SPS# in eBay is 326685-001 and the one from HP is 350219-001. i did a comparison check on HP's site and it looks like eBay's card/SPS# is for older Compaq Presario 2000 series, HP Compaq NX9005/9008/9010 & HP XT/ZE series.
So, DO NOT get this WiFi card, it's not 100% compatible. It may work, but I wouldn't recommend you take the risk.

Response to moderator's (Venombite) comment: "This is not the same part as listed on eBay. The SPS# in eBay is 326685-001".
In fact it is the same card. Check out at partsurfer.hp.com
xodus6 did not say what kind of notebook he has, so the moderator has no knowledge nor authority to say that it will work in his notebook or not. And it applies to Canadians as well.
The HP Pavilion ZE series are the current budget notebook line and hardly can be described as old. By the way the current low priced model ze4805(PF175UA)uses the same mini pci card :326685-001
If the moderator was careful enough to check out both parts he/she would have noticed that the description is different:
326685-001 Repairable Service Part SPS-CARD MINI PCI 54G-WW $218.53 from parts.hp.com (ww site)
326685-001 Mini PCI 802.11g wireless networking card - Supports 54 Mbps, 2.4GHz wireless LANs (Worldwide) $144.00
from partsurfer.hp.com (us site)
while the other part is
350219-001 Repairable Service Part SPS-CARD WIRELESS LAN 802.11G $241.20
from parts.hp.com (ww site)
The more likely determining factor was already written here by brianstretch. Which in fact is what Venombite needs.
