    hello there

since i live in croatia there is no way to check out laptops before purchase so i would like to hear opinions on 8530w sxga+ screen(1680x1050)

i work primarily on laptop with no external display and 1920x1200 is way too dense for me. as i have seen in reviews wuxga display is quite good, but i have no idea on wsga+ quality

i use my laptop for design, so i'm interested about viewing angles and color rendition

any information would be very helpful

wsxga+ is perfect for me, and 1680x1050 is also the perfect resolution for a 15.4'' display imo. wuxga+ 1920x1200 is a bit too much, especially if you want to do office jobs (tiny symbols) and gaming (performance) - for cad it should be good. colors are great, i experience no reflections and also the backlighting is very good. watching the screen from different angles doesnt blur/darken/mirror the display noticeably, at least not that much that it would be annoying. led-lighted displays are only available on the 8730w (WUXGA RGB LED WVA 1920x1200) or models from 6930p downwards (illumi-lite led wxga)

where would you buy the notebook from? no possibility to take a look at the notebook before buying it there? i could recommend you someone in croatia where you certainly could take a look at one.

you could also wait till about christmas time - then new models (elitebook 8540p/w and others) will be launched.

i was going to wait for another few months to buy a new laptop but my thinkpad t60 is having some problems with battery and heat so it looks like i don't really have a choice now

i will buy it from some online store in croatia, it is cheaper and i have more options since i can buy only preconfigured laptops. even the regular stores that keep laptops on display do not ever turn them on. except macs

the only problem was the screen because i'm a bit spoiled with ips matrix in t60. i don't expect it to be as good but at least acceptable for working with color

who do you recommend? is it a store or a person? do you know a way i can get more info about this screen?
