Hello, and merry Christmas to all. I have been playing with my new targus bluetooth laser mouse, which is pretty cool, and the dv9000t. The mouse is great, but I realize that my preferred touchpad pointer speed is near the maximum while my preferred mouse pointer speed is about a medium position. Problem is, I can't have both setup independently--it's either the mouse is too fast when the touchpad is good, or the touchpad is too slow when the mouse is good.
I have been rooting around in control panel for some time now, but the only way to change pointer speed, even for the touchpad, is with the "mouse" icon under control panel and therefore affects both things.

Does anybody have a workaround for this so I don't always have to reset this when I switch from one to the other?
    Thanks.

I would hope to hear an answer as well. I haven't wanted to install the mouse drivers cause I don't want to mess up the Synaptics drivers.

nsurg, i was just cursing the same thing, except I was trying to enable the click lock for the touchpad, but not the mouse. I just got the logitech 270 bluetooth mouse, which is great if anyone is looking for a mouse, except for the logitech software which is useless, when its running the mouse doesn't work, just uninstalled it and everything is fine.

There are special settings for the touchpad. I am not 100% sure but those should be only for the touchpad

Vassil, yeah that's what I would have thought, but it doesn't seem to be the case.

jmhal, could you get them to work independently after you uninstalled the mouse software? My mouse didn't come with software at all...

Anyway, if anybody can figure this out I would still love to hear any advice. I was wondering if there was any 3rd party software that would handle it, but I couldn't find any.

    Thanks.

no, uninstalling the software didn't allow them to work independently. There has to be something out there that will allow different settings for each device.

I had the same problem with my HP laptop and new logitec bluetooth mouse.

    checkout MouseSwitcher http://www.mouseswitcher.com

it does exactly what you want: 2 custom speeds for your touchpad and mouse. Works perfectly, you just switch speeds by pressing a hotkey.

It's really slick, I love it. It has saved me so much frustration. No more going to the control panel every time I use my laptop on my lap!

I purchase a mouse with speed controls built into the mouse. Its an older Logitech gaming mouse. It allows for pointer speed changes on the fly. It works without installing the logitech software.
