, 665326-001 is just a simple keyboard "For use with all computer models in the United States". I really don't think that previous versions of dv6t/dv7t will support backlit keyboard. It is technically impossible.

I would wait until the service manuals come online... first level HP support is basically(I am being kind) useless. The 6000 series services manuals were pretty much available upon product introduction... I looked around about a week ago, with no luck

The backlit keyboard for dv6t 7000 is part #597635-001 and costs $73.20
directly from HP. Anybody is willing to try it on 6000 series?

It is Not gonna be a lay up on the dv6-6xxx in any case, because the dv6-6xxx MB doesn't sport a connector for the backlight (there are two ribbon cables, one for data, and the other for backlight power)... BUT I am Not as sure, that at least early versions of the dv7-6xxx MB, don't have it. That doesn't mean that it can't be done however..

If your knowledgable with power supply and such, you could always try adding a thin strip of LED lights behind the keyboard. Not really a 'real' backlit keyboard but can create just about the same effects.

Or even easier, is to sacrifice one of your usb ports to be used as a power source.

One of the first things I plan to do with my new dv7 is apply icy diamond then lay a red strip of cellophane under the keyboard for red backlighting =]

@ Sav - How you get the 7000 series part #? The parts department cant even give me the product numer of the 7000 series.

I own the dv7t-7000 and I am trying to find the part number of the backlit keyboard for it.
