thats a conversation I had with a tech support guy asking this very same question. the part number on the parts store is a 52$ keyboard and i haven't done much research into it... i dont have th money to buy it just to check.

, 665326-001 is just a simple keyboard "For use with all computer models in the United States". I really don't think that previous versions of dv6t/dv7t will support backlit keyboard. It is technically impossible.
-
I would wait until the service manuals come online... first level HP support is basically(I am being kind) useless. The 6000 series services manuals were pretty much available upon product introduction... I looked around about a week ago, with no luck

The backlit keyboard for dv6t 7000 is part #597635-001 and costs $73.20
directly from HP. Anybody is willing to try it on 6000 series? -
-
If your knowledgable with power supply and such, you could always try adding a thin strip of LED lights behind the keyboard. Not really a 'real' backlit keyboard but can create just about the same effects.
-
Or even easier, is to sacrifice one of your usb ports to be used as a power source.

I own the dv7t-7000 and I am trying to find the part number of the backlit keyboard for it. -
