I was looking at this at best buy and they title it as simply 'dv5' over there. Which model is it? It has the infinity display and such.
I'm trying to decide between waiting a few weeks for my dv5t to ship that I got a 500 dollar discount on with these specs at 980$
- HP Pavilion dv5t Entertainment Notebook
- Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium with Service Pack 1 (64-bit)
- Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo Processor P8600 (2.4 GHz)
- 15.4" diagonal WSXGA+ High-Definition HP BrightView Infinity Display (1680 x 1050)
- 4GB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm)
- 256MB NVIDIA GeForce 9200M GS
- FREE Upgrade to 250GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive with HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection
- [For BrightView Infinity Display] Webcam Only
- HP Color Matching Keyboard
- Intel(R) WiFi Link 5100AGN
- No Modem
- SuperMulti 8X DVD+/-R/RW with Double Layer Support
- No TV Tuner w/remote control
- High Capacity 6 Cell Lithium Ion Battery
- Microsoft(R) Works 9.0
- HP Home & Home Office Store in-box envelope
Or getting that dv5 they have at best buy or possibly a special edition series at best buy now so that I don't have to wait-- I need to use it for school. How does the special edition compare to the dv5t? They have it at best buy for pretty cheap,

(I'm a graphic designer, so possibly the biggest plus of the one I ordered online was the high resolution)

It's a Model: dv6985se .
Hi ETHOS, i just ordered the same configuration from HP with $500 off.
Cheapest i find.
Do you think guys it's posible change configuration after ordering? -
The estimated build date isn't until oct 2 though, highly considering the special edition. Cnet rates it pretty high with its benchmarks. Anyone have any input on how it compares to dv5t with the specs mentioned? -
I heard the 500 bucks coupon expired, ie if you reorder it, prob cant use it.

Still no opinions on the special edition vs dv5t?

I had the dv6700t Special Edition and all I can say is that it was the same the normal dv6700t, which I also had. The differences are the color, the se edition being white with silver keyboards compared to the regular black and black keyboard.
I'd personally go for the dv5t since it has the new Intel chips and chipset. Also it supports 800Mhz of ram compared to the 667Mhz for the dv6700t se.
Aesthetically it is more pleasing and internally seems to be a little more powerful and up-to-date.
You are talking about the white dv6700t special edition right? -

The 6985se -
The 6985se is actually just a dv6700. The model # is different because it is a pre-configured model.
The dv5t, IMO, looks much better and would be more powerful.
is this a dv5t or z at best buy? +questions
