at the costco stores only they have this configuration:

    HP dv 9233CL $1499
    Intel Core 2 duo T5500
    High res Bright view 1440x900
    2 gig ram
    240GB SATA Dual Hard Drive (120GB x 2)
    256MB NVIDIA GeForce Go 7600
    intel pro wireless
    8 cell battery
    5 in 1 digital reader
    Four USB 2.0 ports
    built in webcam
    2 year limited warranty

I would want to be doing some gaming on it.

Wouldn't you want one with 512MB video? Especially for gaming?

Try Costco online. They allow you to customize, and the some of the prices are lower than what you see on the HP site. Of course you have to compare the same specs.

512MB on a GeForce 7600 is a waste of money.

using costco online with the same specs it is about $200 more plus this way you get it instantly. If i have to pay 200 more and wait 2 weeks to get it I may as well go with the dell 1705 the other notebook I am considering.

Is this HP a good PC?

well the only "bad" thing about it is the slower CPU but at that price, thats a good deal.

the T7200 will run at 2ghz and have twice the cache but thats not really such a big deal in the end

at that price its alot cheaper than my T7200 with the same specs, good deal and good laptop IMO

If you're happy with the specs, I'd say its a good deal. HP is as good of a laptop as the rest.

yah i hate going places (like a coffee shop) and having to haul a big computer there, and trying to use in on your lap or even on the table... its kinda hard and somewhat embarrassing...

but if you are going to be inside all the time, then by all means get it! ;)
