hey guys i was just wondering if this hard drive will be compatible with my dv9500:

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822145160

i currently have two 120gb 5400 rpm hard drives and i want to replace my main hard drive with the option above. Will it work? i need to know for sure before i order it.

If any of you know a better deal for a 200gb 7200 rpm hard drive please say so.

Thanks! will wait for your response to make my purchase. :)

Yes. Invisible writing to bypass 10 character minimum.

Yes it is. Remember though, if you are adding it as a second HDD you have to purchase the Adapter and HDD cradle to install it on the second slot. The cradle and adapter will run you roughly $40. The only way you would already have a second adapter and cradle is if you purchased a second HDD with the laptop, otherwise you have to order it separate.

yes thank you. i currently have two 120gb hard drives so the cradle should be there. Anything else i should be aware of? is this a hard thing to do or is there a guide online maybe for the dv9500 specifically? thanks again

It is really easy. First things first, make sure you completely shutdown the computer, this means no sleep or hibernate. Then, unscrew the HDD cover and it will expose the HDD. All you have to do is slide the HDD out, it should have a ribbon connected to it. Then swap out the adapter and cradle. I'm not sure which HDD bay is which, because I didn't have enough time with my old dv9500 to check it out, but you should be able to find documentation on HPs site, which will include a service manual to take the entire laptop apart.

avillabon, if I were you I would replace the system HDD with the 200GB 7200 RPM HDD because its faster than the 5400RPM you currently have in there, and wouldn't you want your OS to be on a faster HDD?

i was going to get it from newegg but today i found the hard drive at "www.zipzoomfly.com" for 15 dollars less. Has anyone had any experience with this online shop? I noticed they have a 15% restocking fee in case i want a refund therefore i need to know if it is trustworthy or not? what do you guys think, zipzoomfly or newegg?

here is the link to the hard drive at zipzoomfly:
