i just ordered a customized maxed out dv6500t laptop, Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo processor T7300 (2.00 GHz, 4 MB L2 Cache, 800MHz FSB.
is this the new santa rosa i have heard of ?
-
Yes it is.
-
whats so improved and what makes santa rosa so great?
-
Santa Rosa includes a new chipset, the processor can dynamically shut off one core and overclock the other one (yet still remaining within the TDP rating) to help speed up single-threaded programs, the front side bus has been improved (max speed was raised, and it can dynamically lower the speed to save battery life), as well as the new Intel WiFi card.
While it's not in anyway a huge update, it has added some extra features. -

exactly. it is somewhat better, but not the be all end all of computer tech. (like the core duo / core 2 duo were when they came out)
its just an updated chipset with a few nice features. -
is this whats making new 6500ts so loud?
after reading some of these threads here, i'm dreading tomorrow morning when my computer arrives. -
Is the T7100 a santa rosa processer?
-
yes, the T5250/t7100/t7300/t7500/t7700 are all santa rosa
-
Very helpful, thanks
-
How about T5450?
-
Just to clarify, santa rosa is not a processor, it is a chipset. The processor is a separate chip, then there's the chipset, which consists of the northbrigde and southbridge chips, and the wireless networking. Those processors are built to run as a compliment to the chipset.

It's JAIMC (Just Another Intel Mobile Chipset):

Sheesh, no one uses google any more? Maybe google needs to start running TV ads or something so people are aware that it exists.
-
I thought about mentioning that fact, but decided against it. People used to compare processors across sockets, so I figured "what the hey". Santa Rosa= Socket P, Napa= Socket M...
-
how about t5300?
-
No.
