Whiling waiting for my Thinkpad T43 to be returned, I am thinking of getting a wide-screen hp dv2000t.

Today in the liberary, I noticed that the display of a hp dv1000 is too pale. Though the screen is bright enough but the color is not rich.

I also noticed on a Toshiba wide-screen laptop that it has the same bright but pale color.

I think the color on this 15" UXGA Flexview is great so I think the pale display will scare me away.

Is it true that hp dv2000t screen lacks contrast or I happened to meet two guys who llikes low contrast display.

was it running on batteries? if so, like many notebooks, the computer might automatically reduce brightness to preserve battery life.

What I am saying is that the display is not so sharp or vivid. Mine is on battery now (T43P) but the contrast is still good.

Sounds like they're not set to their native resolution - that will degrade image quality significantly.

I believe the Flexview panel is one of the best notebook LCDs on the market today. Besides great contrast, it also features IPS which helps the panel have wide viewing angles. Coming from a screen like this, the majority of screens offered by mainstream vendors will not look as good compared to what you are used to. And yes, I agree that the panel is too pale; HP in my opinion uses decent LCD panels but they're not as good as panels found in Fujitsu, Sony, IBM, etc...
