i just accidentally dropped my laptop a few hours ago but it is still working fine. i think the accelerometer came on and stopped the hard drive. but there are a few scratches and looks like small cracks on the cover of the laptop? i really want to change it out without sending it off to HP. are there any sites that sell parts for this laptop?

If the case is cracked, it really cant be replaced. Unless you want to swap out all the components into another chassis. If you can find one. But it wont be easy, but probably possible.

Then, you just need to replace he LCD assembly, one of those are probably much easier to find and replace. ;)

No just the LCD lid. Try the HP parts surfer store to replace the lid.

If you have accidental warranty i suggest you use it. If not, then you might have voided your warranty by dropping it.

I doubt they will make a big mistake on replacing the lid. It will take 1-2 weeks till you get it back.

Buying a new lid might cost you abit..

    Yep.

You shouldn't have any problems, but they are pretty quick. Mine was back in 4 days with a LCD and mobo replacement. :D

You should start a new thread for your question. ;)

Shut it off, and try formatting/installing again. ;)
You cannot share disks like that, its against the company's EULA. Sorry.

You probably wont find it too much cheaper. Thats why i suggest you use your warranty. ;)

Maybe you can borrow another computer, or be ok w/o one. Like I said, sometimes it can be very fast. (Mine was back 5 days earlier than expected). :D
