I'm going through and getting the nw9440 that I just purchased setup. I'm sure there are plenty of processes that I can, and should, delete but I can't find information on most of them.

Like what is the HP Quick Launch, ProtectTools, Mobile Data Protection System?

And then there are processes like:
    accelerometerST.exe
a bunch associated with Infineon that I can't figure out if I can or should get rid of them
A bunch of stuff associated with Sonic...what do I want to keep and what is just added junk?

Anyone? This is brand new so it has just what it came with.

    Thanks.

HP Quick Launch is needed for all the buttons up top to work...keep it.
ProtectTools is a security suite that works on HP business notebooks. Check it out, and if you don't like it uninstall it then. But I use it, and its nice...I always log in using just my fingerprint.
Mobile Data Protection System is necessary as well...it is the program that senses if/when you drop the laptop and it protects the hard drive.

accelerometerST.exe => This is for the Mobile Data Protection System I believe.
Infineon => Required for the TPM chip and the fingerprint reader.
Sonic => This program is for DVD burning and the like.

The business laptops are not like the consumer ones...there really isn't much bloatware if any.

Thanks that helps a lot. Sounds like all of the stuff the is unknown is to be kept. The only thing I deleted was Norton (I have bitdefender).

I really like the idea of the fingerprint reader to enter. I'm coming from XP Home and XP Pro requires the login and I'm just not used to it yet...slows me down. It'll take some time to adjust.

Oh, What is the chance you know how to have the numlock key on? I hate that about PRO.

    Thanks.
