    just got the hp 2133 , can i use the vista business dvd

    that came with it on my 8510-p ? since the 2133 comes loaded with xp pro and both dvd's are included in the package can i now dual boot vista business and xp pro on the 8510-p ?

    Unless its a retail disk, it won't work. the OEM disks usually come with model-specific drivers and software. Plus they are most likely recovery DVDs...

    Based on what I have experienced, as long as it is not a recovery disc/restore DVD you should be able to install Vista on your 2133. The regular(or clean) OEM discs are HP specific and as long it recognizes it as a HP machine, it should install fine. Keep in mind that you might need a separate key for whatever version you might want to install.

    EDIT: The restore DVD's are model specific.

    they are not recovery disks , they are full versions , there are also 2 drivers diskas one for xp pro one for vista business , that's why i thought it might instal on my hp 8510-p
