i just got a dv5000t (intel dual core) off of costco.com

    1.86 ghz duo core

    2gigs 533 dual channel

    geforce 7400 128mb vid

    80 gig sata

dvd rw / cd rw (dual layer? whatever that means)

    brightview

im pretty f_cking pumped, first ordered a toashiba tecra a4, shipped to my house w/ hardware errors, then ordered a dv4000 (that came w/ the x700) the night they switched to the dv5000t, then canceled that and now its the dv5000t

just one question: whats so good about the intel duo core? what kind of performance gain am i lookin at?

Looks more like two questions, LOL. ;)

Better multitasking. Allows you to run more applications at once without as much lag.

Here are some benchmarks from anandtech. There are also a few reviews of Core Duo machines here on Notebookreview (like this one) that compare them against older Pentium M models running Super Pi. That should give you a pretty good idea.
