    The keypad on my compaq presario v5000z doesn't work. It could be something wrong with the computer program, but not sure. It seems as though the space bar is being pushed down the whole time so it's impossible to type! The keypad is in mint condition too. need helkp :mad:

    Is the keyboard malfuctioning in all the Windows programs you try it in (e.g. Notepad?)

    If you need to narrow this down to a hardware issue, I see two alternatives;

    - Boot into a DOS screen and test the keyboard at the C:\> prompt
    or
    - Download a linux distro so you can boot from a CD and see if the keyboard still malfunctions in Linux (Try http://www.ubuntu.com/download/ )

    I suppose, at least that would eliminate a software problem / drivers / virus. If it's a hardware problem, then you'll have to get in touch with your supplier or with Compaq.
