How do I make the keyboard backlight stay on all the time instead of turning it on manually after I turn the computer on or is there no such thing?

Hmm, for me it remembers my last setting. If I have it off, it stays off, and if I have it on, it stays on. Weird.

Just for the heck of it...go into your bios and disable the HP hotkeys. When you are in Windows...you can use Fn-F5 to turn the keyboard on and off and it should remember what you choose. I turned off the bios hotkeys...because I use programs that use F1-F9 and kept getting the wrong functions, because of the bios hotkeys...

    Try that...

I know if you use the official AMD drivers instead of the HP provided ones, it can mess up your brightness control. Perhaps it messes up the keyboard backlight controls as well?

edit: this is gonna be fun.. uninstalling everything that says HP in its name

every time you start your envy you must manually turn on the back light. It cuts off by itself on shutdown.

Alright, HP says backlight will not save setting after shutdown/power but will stay after restart or sleep mode. So back to my question, is there a software that I can use to keep the baclight on when computer starts?

My keyboard light always turns on when I start the laptop no matter if it was on or off when I closed it, a little annoying but it's easy to turn off so, same with the mouse pad I wanna keep it off but it also turns on at every start.
