i thought that the l2000 was a PC2700? Would I be able to use the 512mb stick that it came with because i plan on using both sticks

Yes, you would be able to use, though both run at DDR333 speed. But in future when you take out DDR333 to replace with DDR400, memory will run at DDR400 speed.

i thought it was only compatiable w/ DDR 333 did anyone try it w/ DDR 400?

You won't see substantial performance gains with only 1GB (512MB X 2) DDR 400, unless you're using/running intensive programs/tasks (Maya for example). If your budget will allow, I suggest upgrading to the full 2GB.

    See my signature. I use DDR400, I also tested with combination(mixing DDR333 & DDR400). Everything works fine.

I would suggest 2 DDR400 512MB modules if you think 1GB is good enough.

If you see recent Tomshardware article, expect very few programs( may 2-3 %) 1GB is more than enough. As you know you will see improvement because of more memory if application uses it. Otherwise it is just there without even getting allocated.

I run Eclipse, MySQL server, JBoss, Outlook, Oracle all these applications and 1GB is more than enough as such for me. I never see exceeding more than 800MB.

May be some extensive 3D applications may use it, but I have not encountered one in all these years.

I think i'll just get one stick of 1gb for now because i paid the extra 25$ bucks to upgrade to one stick, I dont have that much money right now, going into college next year =)
