    i have a compaq presario f767nr laptop
the laptop is pretty decent, 2ghz duo core, 2gb ram nvidia geforce 7000m
battery is 6-cell Lithium ion last 2 or 2.5 hours(just browsing the net)

do laptops last average of 2 -3 hrs or its just my battery's fault

if the battery is the problem, which battery should i get that lasts around 5 hours and compatible with my laptop?

It depends on the type of laptop
a mid size laptop (like 15" screen) gets usually around 2 hours.
if you want anything to last 5 hours youll need to upgrade from a 6cell to a 12cell or invest in a second battery to carry around.

but im not sure if 12cells are available for you, they arnt for me (i use a dv5). im also not sure if a 12cell will give you 5.
