The Targus shoulder bag CPT-400 is a great deal for the price. It allows storing a couple of books besides providing a robust case for carrying this large lappy
. The build quality of this bag makes it ideal for carrying along anywhere if you don't mind the weight of the bag itself.

I use the Targus TCG 220 Messenger style, alot of quality for the price. But ofc in the end its about personal preference

I have a tumi bag that I love -
i use this:
Targus Flare Backpack
i find that shoulder bags are very painful with large laptops
plus this backpack is waterproof with a rainfly -
I love this bag I just can't bring myself to spend the $180

I'm really cheap, well actually I just spend money on things that I think are really worth it. So right after I had ordered my laptop I went to my local Tj Maxx. For those of you who dont know what this is, its a store that has stuff that has minor defects or product that didn't sell but it's discontinuted. So i found this $160 Victorinox laptop bag for only 50 dollars....I mean what a deal. I would recommend people doing this before anything else. I mean the bag was in perfect condition.

my votes for the TCG 220. I used it ever since my ZD7k (then again i bought it after rebate for 10 dollars lol)

If I have to carry mine around - I'm just going to throw it in my Jansport backpack........ in plastic garbage bags if the weather calls for it.

Bought one of these three years ago for my 15.4 inch dv4000 . . . tried it out for new dv9500t and it fit perfect! So I bought another one for $59 . . . I have drqggee the old one around on planes, trains, and automobiles . . . still take it to the office very day. Incredibly durable . . . and you can't believe all the stuff you can add in it! Available in black and grey or blue and black. My wife claimed the new Targus bag . . . and the dv9500t!

I have one of these backpacks for my dv9000T (same size machine)...
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834995414
It's a Targus Black XL 17" Notebook backpack, and I can assure you, there is PLENTY of room in that thing- I routinely carry my machine, an HP 460wf printer, a couple different 2.5" external drives in cases, all the power bricks/cables/TV Tuner and accoutrements in a small case, plus have room for notebooks, file folders and other stuff. It's proven pretty durable (I originally got it to lug around my Dell Inspiron 9300), it's pretty comfortable to wear even when loaded fully, and seems put together pretty well. If nothing else, it's another option for you! -
That looks like a real nice case. are you sure thats the model? i couldnt find it at all. i just noticed the link is to the UK site, i'm in the US so maybe they have different models. I only found this one Targus 17" CityGear Los Angeles Notebook Case http://www.targus.com/us/product_details.asp?sku=TCG417
The site said its 3.75 lbs. Although its not as aesthetically pleasing I opted for the lighter Targus 17 Shield Backpack at only 2.63 lbs. Over a pound lighter
PS I wanted to thank everyone for their input. There were a lot of nice choices. I used to recommend Targus cases 10 years ago when i was selling notebooks.

I like the Shinza.com products. I have a dv9500t and my sister has a Vostros 1400. Both fit great in the ZeroShock 3 14-inch sleeves with a little bit more than an inch extra space on the longest side. The padding of the Shinza sleeve feels like the sound insulator foam in a recording studio. The foam turns back to its regular shape after a few minutes. It's rigid memory-like foam is excellent at absorbing shock, and with the protection of my bag, my laptop is very well protected and safe from commuting. The company just came out with new shoulder bags that I got to try out with the sleeve when I travel. I have been impressed with it. I keep my Dell in a sleeve then slip it inside the bag. The quality is impressive considering how low the price is (I used a discount coupon given to me by their customer people. I don't know if it is still active, but no harm in asking them for one). Good luck! Shinza.com
