so did anyone get a laptop for live.com?

I finally got through and i entered my email and it accepted. However once i was on HPs website I didnt see any confirmation icons or anything. even after I purchased my laptop they didnt mention anything about live.com. Are you suppose to pay with paypal cause I used credit card....

I got in on one. It doesn't show you any confirmations at all. I just recently got a confirmation from live cashback.

Tried about 30 times and couldn't get through so I checked out Lenovo and eventually ended up buying a Macbook. I've successfully used Live.com's %30 off e-bay with buy it now and paypal in the past, but it's capped at $200 so I wouldn't be surprised if the %40 deal had a cap as well.

This is absolutely incorrect, I know this obviously because I did get my confirmation from cashback regarding the amount. And it was 40% of the price I paid no cap whatsoever.

You will note that I SAID IT WOULDN'T surprise me. I made no claims toward it being fact.

I absolutely made an observation and as to the buy it now with paypal being capped at $200 cash back it is absolutely correct.

the $200 cap is only with ebay. there is not a cap from any other merchant, you only get up to $2500 a yr though.
i was able to get a pretty loaded Hp dv5t. was $967, gonna be about $580 after the cash back.

I thought that was what i said, but perhaps my statement wasn't clear enough. I wasn't trying to say there was a $200 cap on the HP deal, just that since live.com has caps in place on other deals that I personally wouldn't have been surprised if they had one on the HP %40 deal. After reading it appears there was no cap, monetarily at least. In the end, they capped it by making it nearly impossible to get through. I guess we sort of trampled Live.com and HP's website like those New Yorkers trampled that poor Walmart employee.

Congrats to all that got through, but after about 30 tries over the course of a couple hours I had better things to do. I've used live.com's other deals several times and have approx. $300 in my cashback account, $200 of which becomes available Dec. 1st. It can be a very sweet deal!

I'm not familiar with live.com limitations on other products but 40% makes this an awesome deal

I got screwed by HP and Microsoft, i.e. I tried many times and couldn't get in. I wished I liked OSX so I could avoid spending money with both of these losers but it looks like Microsoft will get some of my cash through Lenovo.
