Does this actually work? Although it is already a little too late for me, i was wondering if this thing actually worked for some people?

Yes, but it's usually not valid with coupons.

I am finding out the hard way that it doesn't work with coupons. If you have a coupon, I recommend going through Ebates or Fatwallet. I am desperately trying to work with Live Cashback to make an exception for me.

Does the Discover 5% work with a coupon?

All I know is that fatwallet both gives you a transaction number you can use if there are problems, AND lists the current coupons when you link through them. This whole live cashback deal has left a very sour taste in my mouth.
I bought two different laptops (a T61, which my wife didn't like because the LCD isn't centered...and a dv5t, which I bought through her APP discount). I ordered both using coupons, and both showed up within hours in my cashback account. So when the HP $400 off coupon showed up a day later, I canceled my previous order, and re-ordered using live.com and the new coupon thinking everything would be fine.
Two days after the purchase my cashback hadn't shown up and I sent an e-mail to microsoft about it and they just brushed me off saying that I would have to e-mail after 7 days from my purchase. Well, of course it hadn't shown up by then, and of course the $400 coupon was dead. After two e-mails this week I still haven't heard anthing back from live cashback, but the reports I've heard have all said that they've been denied because of the coupon. AARGH!
I am so ridiculously frustrated. I really love this laptop (the dv5t), but I'm seriously thinking of ordering the dv5z using fatwallet's cashback and the new $200 off coupon and returning it. I'd get nearly the same computer for about $665 shipped vs $960 shipped, assuming that the 5% came through on the one and not on the other. That $300 difference makes the dv5t almost 50% more expensive!
live.com cashback for hp 5%?
