    consumer hp notebook with dedicated graphics, do they exist at all? i find the nc8430 and other business line notebooks a bit expensive here in the uk :(

    Consumer? The nx/nc/nw series are the business series. They're bound to be more expensive. The DV8000t and the DV5000t have dedicated graphics, at least here in the US.

    Even the new Dv2000t has a dedicated, yet slow, card Ge7200. What do you need the laptop for?

    The dv6000z does (GeForce 7200, 64MB), as does the upcoming dv9000z (GeForce 7600, 256MB).
