Hi, I am looking to buy a laptop but I don't know much about them. I am not completly computer stupid but I'm not sure of what to look for in a laptop. I went to bestbuy and the sales rep recomended the V2321US saying it was the best for the money in what I was looking for. I Don't want to spend too much but I would like a decent machine for entertainment. I want to be able to play games, surf the web, listen to music, etc. From what I can tell, it seems like a good setup with a turion 64, ATI radeon xpress 200M, 512 RAM, 80Gigs, and a DVD+CD RW. I was curious too see if anyone could help me out and tell me if this is worth $1,049 or maybe recomend a better notebook. I've searched the web for reviews on this machine but cant find a site mentioning it other than Best buy. Thanks for any help.

Good notebook. Look for the V2000z and HP L2000 SE reviews/etc here. The V2321US is just a V2000z platform notebook preconfigured with the options you listed.

You might want to look on HPShopping.com. You can customize the v2000z there. You might want to consider the 5400RPM hard drive which will make a major difference performance wise. The 12 cell battery has exceptional battery life. Get the minimum amount of memory and add more later. That is usually cheaper. With a 12 cell battery and 80GB 5400RPM hard drive, it is about $100 cheaper on HPShopping after $50 rebate. Plus you won't have to pay tax on HPSHopping.com. Good Luck.

I was able to get my v2000z from Office Depot when they had an awesome sale going on in August. After rebates (and including tax and shipping), the total was $600 for a Turion 64 ML-28, 60GB 5400RPM drive, brightview, 12-cell battery, DVD/CD-RW Combo drive, 802.11b/g wireless card and 256MB RAM. I didn't upgrade the RAM b/c I knew I could do buy a stick for much less than it would cost to upgrade through HP. I say this only to say that you can find better deals if you are patient. Look for deals at OD, they often have great deals on this laptop. If you can afford to wait a bit, I would recommend it instead of buying from Best Buy. If you need it immediately and don't mind paying the extra $$, then maybe Best Buy is the way to go. Look for deals on the v2000 or v2000z on fatwallet.com

I got my 2312US from circuit city last week for $770 after rebates
Its a great machine, make sure you flash it to the latest bios so the ram works at the right speed if it comes with the older F.06 bios. ;)
