    Hey guys,

    I have a DV6TSE with:

    i5 450M
    hd5470 / intel switchable
    6gb DDR2
    500gb 7200rpm
    backlit keyboard/finger print reader

I'm only getting about 2-2.3 hours max on a 6 cell battery, and I only use this computer for word processing, or web surfing. I've read of people getting averages of 3-5 hours for the 6 cell, should I contact HP?

    Thanks

A lot of things could be causing battery life problems. Excess programs running (Fixed by a clean install). The brightness might not be lowered, you could be browsing sites with flash, or even using usb's could cause lower battery life

I actually have a relatively clean install, I've reformatted several times and turn off as many services from startup as possible.

I think I seen your post about the battery and you gave the usage.

You have way too much activity on your laptop, having an average discharge rate of 36,000 mW which is way above moderate, worse than the factory HP install :p. I wouldn't be surprised it last much less than 3 hrs on 6 cell. Lights are under 14,000 mW and moderate are under 18,000mW.

So to help, cut down running background applications that you don't need running all the time.
