Yes, though it may or may not downclock to PC2700 speeds.

DDR PC3200 is the fastest official spec which the S754 Turions support. The PC3200 will downclock to PC2700 if you plan to use the PC3200 memory along with the stock PC2700 memory. if you just use the PC3200 replacing the stock memory then it should run at PC3200 speeds.

ok, I checked it out. I got 2 sticks of 512...so I'd just get 2 1g of 3200. you think this would work?
    Crucial - Memory - 1 GB - DIMM 184-pin - DDR - 400 MHz / PC3200 - CL3 - 2.6 V - unbuffered - non-ECC or
    PNY Optima - Memory - 2 GB ( 2 x 1 GB ) - DIMM 184-pin - DDR - 400 MHz / PC3200

2X1GB sticks would be fine but the Crucial PNY memory you listed are desktop memory and will not work with your laptop. For notebooks you will need 200pin DDR PC3200 SODIMM modules like these...

laptop memory takes 1.8v. I'm assuming the memory you are looking has better timings for overclocking, hence the CL3 (value memory has CL5) and ALLOWS for higher voltage is because in order to run memory at faster timings, you sometimes need to run more juice to it. I don't think your Bios allows faster timing and higher voltage to the memory though, so in that case you'd just be wasting your money.

where I am buying it, that is what is listed....got credit with them. its probably one of those things that will work , it just an extra feature. I maybe trying to hard to find it, but you would think HP would have something to tell you what memory will work with this model.

I believe the JEDEC standard for DDR SODIMM's is 2.5V?? Slight variations should be fine. As for as HP listing compatible memory it would be pretty much impossible considering the number of memory manufacturers. The memory manufacturers on the other hand do have online configurators where you can get memory they say should work with your system.

Memories are usually backwards compatible. So, if the system doesnt accept DDR400 it is capable of downclocking to DDR333 speeds. No one can guarantee 100% compatibility but as long as you buy a good brand you should be fine with the memory.
