hi, I am planning to buy a V2000t with 256 memory, then to buy a 1G from crucial, but I saw this description about memory from the HP official website. "Dual Channel is only supported when the system is configured with DDR2 symmetric memory (i.e. 2x256MB,2*512MB,2*1GB)" Does that mean if I install 1GB into the laptop with the original 256MB, it won't support and recognize the total as 1256MB? Could anyone tell me what'll happen. thks! :)

those are two totally different things

since you have two different sizes of ram you can't support dual channel. it will recognize the 1.25, but it only allows dual channel for ddr2 ram.
