    trying to do some tech support for a friend with a HP laptop. the problem:

    the laptop has a built in mic. when he plugs in his headset w/mic he gets horrid
    feedback because both mics are on. how do i shut off just the onboard mic?
    model: HP dv6000 pavilion

    In Vista, you should be able to disable the internal mic in the 'Recording Devices' control panel
