Bigger problem: you're going to have to find a HP card that's on the "whitelist" in the BIOS for that particular notebook line. HP is really evil about this. You may need to get HP to help you on this one. I'm still steamed about my HP notebook rejecting the Linux-friendly Atheros card I went through an awful lot of trouble to hunt down to replace the Linux-hostile Broadcom card HP included.

Do you know where the miniPCI slot is? There should be two wires with small round connectors that snap into place. Those wires lead to the antennas. If you can't find them, you're stuck.

    Totico,

There was a user that got a Mini PCI Wireless LAN card for his HP notebook from Tigerdirect. He initially tried a Dell mini WiFi card and didn't work and then he tried an Intel wireless card from Tiger and he said it worked flawlessly. Check them out and ask them if it'll be compatible with your unit. I think it only cost him $42 Canadian which is approx $32 US.
