I was reading the forums about the battery and i didnt know u didnt need a batt to power on, because this notebook is at home right now and I'm not bringing it anywhere anytime soon, is it smarter for me to leave the battery out?
If i leave the battery out would it wear down?
If I leave it in with the ac always charged would it wear the battery?
What should I do?

1.) Minimally. After a couple weeks, you will notice a few percentage point difference.
2.) It is smart to keep the battery out when it is fully-charged. It increases the battery's life and helps prime the battery.
The best thing to do (also called priming):
1.) Run on AC until fully-charged
2.) Unplug and use until battery runs out
3.) Repeat -
yea but i mean im not planning to use this notebook outside that much cause i start college next year so its going to be at home so what would be smarter for me to keep my battery life at its max

At my house, I still run the battery down even though an outlet is a few feet away.
-
well i dont want to kill the batteries lol, im always on ac unless i just feel like playing around, theres so many outlets in my house that theres no point for me to use the battery, + i have 4 desktops in my house lol, so i use the desktop more then the notebook

Charge the battery to 50%, take the battery out of the laptop, and store it in a cool place. All Li-Ion care instructions suggest this method.
-
the battery is at 100% right now and i took it out and i put it back into the bubble wrap it came in. i'm running my notebook on ac right now and it's going to stay like that for a while =) lol

Use the battery until it is around 40% and store it in a cool dry place. Someone suggested inside a refrigirator in a freezer bag. Storing the battery at 100% is not recommended. Read this link for more info.

lol i would need a freezer bag =) lol
how would i keep the battery bay clean =) from all the dust? -
They might make those "dummy" batteries that fill the gap, but I've yet to see one. I would just try and keep that area clean and blow it out with compressed air every now and then.

i think i might stuff something there like paper lol =) i dont got cans of air i might put my notebook into a plastic bag wen im not using it, going to pick up some freezer bags tommo n drop a 40% charged batt into the fridge lol
its going to be there for 9 months prob =), might take it out every once in a while to use if i go to a friends or something -

Dunno, my 22-month-old zv5000z 12 cell battery is still at 0% wear and I've always just left it in place. Most of the time the notebook is plugged in but I did run on battery today for a few hours. I suppose it helps that I've got a fairly cool undervolted Mobile Athlon 64 CPU in a chassis designed to handle Intel P4 blast furnaces (the non-z zv5000 line) and I live in Michigan so the battery rarely gets all that warm. That and luck of the draw. I haven't heard of anyone else with a battery this old that's still at 0% wear.

thats crazi =) lol i think i'll be on the safe side and throw it into the fridge after i pick up some nice freezer bags tommo; im thinking of how i should seal up the battery to keep dust from entering it, right now the desktop is right behind me and im running on notebook battery, just tryin to drain it to 40% lol

There are so diverging opinions on how to save one's battery that I get confused. I use my battery rarely but it is always in the laptop. Unfortunately, I cannot tell what the wear level is because as we know MobileMeter does not read it correctly.
I wonder what does "prolonged storage" mean? A week, a month, several months? Sometimes I don't use my battery for a week or two...how prolonged is that? -
well theirs is rated in a year, my wear level is 26% lol i thought the reading was suppose to be in the 30%s
-
so any ideas to make a battery cover? lol what i did was get sheets of foiled and flatten it into like a little rectnagle then i taped black construction paper on one side of it and i stuffed it in, at least its not completely opened to dust now =) better then nothing, it looks nasty n its not snuggled it tightly but the notebook cooler holds it together
more battery questions lol i didnt know u didnt need the battery to power on =)
